Time is RUNNNNNIIINNNNNGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only a few weeks left, I can't believe it. I have swam so much, biked miles and run quite a few too. My body has changed quite a bit and I like it. I am conviced it is the swimming. Still not totally confident at it but have come a long way. Bikes get packed up next week to go to Hawaii! Lots of spinning to be done! I am still quite impressed with everyone's support almost up to $8000.00 yeah! I promise not to let you down. (even though I am totally stressed out). Until next time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I DID IT!

Well guys I finally did my first official triathlon! It was a sprint distance 1/4 mile swim, 10 mile bike and 2.5 mile run. Time: 1 hour 9 minutes and change! I even placed 3rd in my division of first timers! I laughed. I was just happy to finish. My mother even got her butt out of bed to cheer me on with my man.

The swim really freaked me out. Standing across a lake looking at the finish was freaky. Such a long distance and in Hawaii it is 3 times as long. OMG! Do I have alot of work to do. But like this one woman said to me .... now you will be addicted! Need to pick up the training pace now or at least the distances. Tonight need to run the bridge at Key Biscayne about 6 miles or so! Until next time!

KEY BISCAYNE Contaminated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every week is a story....So I biked 20 miles, helped change a team memeber's flat tire, ran 3 fast and then the swim 1000 in lovely Key Biscayne. The waters were calm and friggin cold. I was so proud of myself. I actually swam with minimal rest breaks and felt good about it. Swallowed a little sea water. Not bad. Went home showered, conditioned my hair. Proceeded on my weekend. Went to plan my training for monday and found out that there is an ECOLI outbreak in the brilliant waters I proudly swam in on saturday. After having nightmares and skin itching, I luckily didn't get sick, but now have to look for a new place to train. I am incredibly grossed out! Until next time!

tsunami!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So have you ever been caught in a tidal wave? Well that is what I swam in saturday and was not happy! I swallowed half the Atlantic ocean! Everytime I took a breath while I was dogpaddling, a wave would hit me! All that pool time and lessons to refine my stroke to doggy paddle! Thank goodness they told us that Maui will be pretty flat and no signs saying....WARNING.... RIP CURRENTS! LOL...Well I am still alive to tell about this. Hopefully next weekend will be a better experience at Key Biscayne.

April is here!

It is friday night and I am nervous about my first open water swim tomorrow. I have everything just about ready to go , just have to get coffee ready and set my alarm. I sat down to enter checks and money from my spin-a-thon. I am so impressed with how everyone is so generous that I am upping my goal to $7000.00. Training is getting more and more challenging so why not make the fundraising challenging too! I will let you know how it goes tomorrow! Peace and out .....ME

Where the F is the pool!

Ok, so we get to the "pool"....... and no friggin pool! It was under construction! So the time trial saturday consisted of 1.5 mile run 5 mile bike 1.5 mile run. Guess what... I came in 3rd. Behind 2 boys! If I had swam it would have been a different story all together. I wore my new tri suit and everything...I was a little disappointed. This saturday is going to be a real test. First open water swim. I am scared to death. It has been so windy, big waves in the ocean. Wish me luck.

Week 5

Well this was quite a week. My training has been a bit off. Family obligations and having my car busted into! But today (saturday) turned out to be very nice. Not only is it St. Patty's day, but I had my big fundraising 3 hour spin at Secretcycling Society this am. One of my honored patients..Scott... arrived late! OY VEY Scott! He was a little lost in Hialeah! Imagine a Miami Beach jew driving for the first time in Hialeah! I started off giving a little opener on my mission, about scott and we had a cake for Bob's bday. Then the 4 wonderful people spun us for 3 hours. Many people left about half way through. Scott even got on a bike for about an hour and really enjoyed it at his pace.

By next week I should know what the total is for donations. Again I need to thank all those who participated their endurance and their love for fitness in my quest to help Scott and all those afflicted with blood cancers. I also want to thank Bob, Yami, Luis and James for donating their time and wonderful music and inspiration to carry all of us through 3 hours. I will return with a report of my monitary progress from the ride and triathlon next week. Next week is a time trial and the week after is our first open water swim a mini tri! WOW. Love, LISA

Week 4

Another training saturday has passed, got yelled at for changing my clothes. I guess I am going to have to go buy the triathlon "outfit". There is an " outfit" for everything now adays! Where is the time to do that! And to top it off you have to got to a "triathlon" store to do that too! Unbelievable! Cha ching!

This week we swam 1000, biked 10 and ran 2. I think I drank half the pool too....Hard to breathe working on speed. Especially since I am not a swimmer. The coach said I was doing good, so any positive reinforcement on my athletic ability makes me feel better.

Back to the grind tomorrow am 5. Swimming! My favorite! Yippee! It's all good. I will be missing my saturday training this week because I am doing a fundraising 3 hour spin. Hopefully, I will reach my goal for money and I won't have to stress out about that!

I must say that everyone this year has been so supportive and generous. It touches my heart with each donation that I receive. I thank you all for them.... Peace and out....LISA

I am a TRIATHLETE!

I don't believe what I did today. I swam 1/2 mile, biked 12 miles, and ran 2 miles. This is the first official training day that I have experienced with my team members and coaches.

They started me off in group 1 with swimming then after 2 laps moved me to group 2. Actually made me change lanes. I guess I am doing better at swimming than I thought. It is killing me though. I don't get the lingo. A whole new ball game than cycling or running. 32 laps in total today and I only started swimming in my adult life like a month ago!

My hair hasn't fallen out yet. I came straight home after meeting my teammated and washed immediately with special shampoo and deep conditioned! LOL! It also felt so good to be back on the bike. My poor little bike hasn't been ridden since the accident. She performed beautifully.

All I know is that the swimming is going to be my largest challenge. Next week 1000 swim...OH God!

WOW!

Well, I still haven't even officially started training with the team, but I am tired. The computer stuff is most frustrating, because anyone who knows me understands that I am not computer savy. I still don't quite understand how I just got to this page to type this!

Anyway, swimming is very hard (I must say)! 5 am is a good time to go though. Crazy huh! Tomorrow I run about 5 miles. Hopefully get one good night sleep this week.

I have to say I am most impressed and grateful for everyone who has visited my website and donated on line so far. Each day I feel the compassion grow more and more. Thank you so much!

I am going to take a nap now! Kisses. LISA

Pre training stuff!

Greetings and salutations! I am hoping everyone who visits this site saw my Team in Training site. I am asking for your support in raising money to help find a cure for blood cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's lymphoma, and myeloma from taking more lives.

To do this I am competing in an olympic distance triathlon named King's Trail for 3 very important people in my life. Scott Shamis, a heart transplant/stroke survivor now with lymphoma from years of antirejection meds; Mr. Robert Thomson, 6 months chronic leukemia; and in memory of Mrs. Judy Thomson, newly diagnosed with acute leukemia, who lost her fight before she even had a chance to begin the battle. My heart goes out to Bubba, Barb, Linda, and Mr. T... She will be truely missed.

So my training ....Oy vey...has officially/unofficially begun. I haven't really been back on my bike yet since my accident... just spinning alot. I am happy to be back to running too. Now the swimming is another story. My poor hair! Lots of deep conditioning! Been in the pool like 2 times weather permitting ( it is not cooperating) and who would have thunk that in miami no indoor pools!
